Five per cent cut in Uzbekistan state jobs

Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a decree to reduce the size of the state governing bodies, as well as their related organisations by five per cent.
According to the document published in the electronic media of the republic on Monday, it is planned to reduce 1153 positions at management level in various state governing bodies, including 64 in central offices, 206 in regional offices, 629 at regional offices and 254 in subordinate organisations.
The various state agencies are instructed to create a commission to reduce the number of employees, to determine the list of reduced jobs and notify the employees, subject to the reduction. According to the resolution, these employees must be provided with jobs.
