Procedure of filming by foreign companies approved in Uzbekistan

Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure of shooting films for foreign film companies in the country.

Foreign companies must have permission of the National Agency Uzbekkino for the shooting of films in accordance with the document.

An applicant must submit six copies of a printed version of the shooting script in the state or Russian languages, with the release of the episodes which are planned to shoot on the territory of Uzbekistan, calendar and staging plan for the organization of work, showing the place of filming, a copy of the license for the production of films and programs of local organizations, attracted by the applicant for filming and a copy of the contract with the organization for the provision of services. The applications must be submitted not less than two month before the filming.

The agency is considering submitted documents and notifies the applicant about the decision in a period not exceeding one month from the date of application.

A permit may be refused in particular if the director's script contains scenes that promote national, racial, ethnic or religious hatred, degrading the honor and dignity, a sense of insulting people because of their ethnicity, religious beliefs, or contrary to morality and the national mentality, false or distortedly reflecting the history, culture, traditions and customs of the peoples of Uzbekistan, the idea of promoting extremism and terrorism, violence and cruelty.

If there are divergences between the scenario agreed with the agency and the actual content of the material being shoot the permit may be suspended.

In addition, the permit may be suspended if the shooting is implemented not in the places agreed with the agency, or a foreign film company used the services of a local organization that does not have the appropriate license for the production of films and programs.

In case when the filming is carried out with the participation of Uzbek cinematographers at the expense of state budget of the republic, a permit is not require
