The foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Vietnam until the end of the year will hold in Hanoi next round of political consultations.

The next sixth meeting of the Vietnamese-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation is planned to be held this year. The first meeting of the commission was held in 2000. The meeting is planned to be held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Vietnam were established in 1992. On January 1, 1993 the Embassy of Vietnam in Tashkent opened.

According to the Vietnamese diplomatic mission, a new stage in the development of Uzbek-Vietnamese relations was opened by the official visit of President Islam Karimov to Vietnam in March 1996. The official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Uzbekistan (October 2011) raised interaction between the two countries to a new level.

At present, relations between Vietnam and Uzbekistan are regulated by a number of documents, including the Treaty on the basis of international relations and cooperation, intergovernmental agreements on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in the field of tourism, the establishment of an intergovernmental commission on trade -economic and scientific-technical cooperation.

Relations between Vietnam and Uzbekistan are actively developing in the field of trade, investment, tax policies, aviation, science and technology, tourism, public safety, oil and gas exploration and production, and others.

Today, there are 15 enterprises in Uzbekistan with the participation of the Vietnamese capital, including three companies with one hundred percent foreign capital that focus in the silk industry, trade and public catering.
