Uzbekistan plans to create national genomic information

Uzbekistan plans to create the genomic information database till 2016 within the development program of the National Forensic Center under the Justice Ministry approved by the government.

The program was adopted to meet the needs of law enforcement bodies and courts in qualified expert studies, the preamble of the corresponding resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

According to the program, it is planned to improve the regulatory framework of the forensic service. In particular, the law on "Genomic registration" determining the legal basis for obtaining, recording and keeping biological samples will be determined. The national genomic information database will be created.

It is planned to introduce new types of research, such as a comprehensive study of audio and video materials based on digital technologies, expert assessment of the cost of land rights, judicial and economic examination of foreign trade, legal and environmental expertise, political forensic linguistic expertise, forensic philological expertise to expand forensic practice, improve the quality and reliability of forensic expertise.

The program envisages not only the development of standards for equipping expert laboratories of the center, but also the implementation of measures for standardization and certification to ensure the high quality and reliability of the expert studies.

It is also planned to introduce the advanced research techniques to reduce the period of holding examinations and improving the efficiency of forensic operations.

In particular, around 30 percent of the tariff rate will be paid monthly to senior employees and experts for special working conditions.

According to the governmental resolution, the Tashkent administration was instructed to allocate a land plot for the construction of a new specialized building.

The center is exempt from customs duties (excluding charges for customs clearance) for forensic equipment, reagents and materials imported for the activity till January 1, 2016.
