According to a decree of the Uzbek President, Murad Askarov has been appointed Deputy Foreign Minister, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry told Trend on Wednesday.

Previously, he was an Uzbek Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York

According to the report, Askarov was born in 1974. He is a career diplomat. He has been working at the Foreign Ministry for over 12 years.

He graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent in 1997. In 2005 he received PhD in politics. Besides Uzbek and Russian, he speaks English, German and Turkish.

He headed the Department for Foreign Policy Analysis and Strategy at the Uzbek Foreign Ministry since 2006. He was appointed Uzbek Ambassador to the United Nations in February 2009.
