Chinese president Xi Jinping will visit Uzbekistan on September 8, the Chinese ambassador to Uzbekistan Zhang Xiao told journalists on Tuesday.
"Xi Jinping will visit Uzbekistan as Chinese president for the first time," the ambassador noted.
The diplomat stressed that the president's visit to Uzbekistan is significant in the context of a dynamic development of strategic partnership between the countries.
It is planned to sign a number of bilateral documents in trade, economy and political spheres within the visit.
According to the ambassador, the commodity turnover between Uzbekistan and China could hit $3.5 billion in 2013. It was earlier reported that the commodity turnover increased by 60 per cent to $2.54 billion in the first seven months of 2013 which is similar to 2011.
According to China's embassy in Uzbekistan, Xi Jinping will also visit Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan from September 3 to September 13.
