Uzbek, Swiss presidents hold negotiations

Uzbekistan considers Switzerland a long-standing and reliable partner, said the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Didier Burkhalter.
Karimov went on to add that Switzerland holds an important place in the world politics and is a generally recognized as an international economic and financial center.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the key issues of Uzbek-Swiss relations, promising areas of their development in political, economic, trade, investment, cultura, humanitarian and other spheres, the press service of Uzbek president said.
At present, the parties have accumulated considerable experience of cooperation in various fields, a solid contractual basis has been established. There are 77 enterprises with Swiss capital in Uzbekistan, 22 of which are 100 percent Swiss.
A number of relevant international issues were also discussed during the meeting.
