A decision was made to appoint Komiljon Adylov Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) at a meeting of Uzbekistan's CEC.

Adylov replaced Svetlana Artykova, elected deputy chairperson of the Senate, at this post.

Adylov was born in 1954. He graduated from the Saratov State Academy of Law. He has permanently worked as a CEC member since September 2001, while the CEC Secretary since 2014.

Earlier, Artykova was the CEC deputy chairperson. She was appointed Senator in January 2015 upon President Karimov's decree. Later, she was elected deputy chairperson of the upper house of the parliament.

According to the Uzbek legislation, CEC members are elected by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis upon the recommendation of the regional councils of people's deputies and approved by the Senate.

CEC Chairman is elected among its members upon the president's decree, while deputy chairman and secretary - among its members at the commission meeting.
