Uzbekistan and Russia are bound by many factors and disputes on various issues can't separate the two countries, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said.

Karimov made the remarks during the meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Ufa, Russia.

Uzbek president said that the mutual interests of Russia and Uzbekistan, the trials that Uzbekistan underwent together with Russian people made them closer and created common future for the two countries, Russian media reported.

It was earlier reported that the main official events of the SCO summit will be held July 10.

Heads of SCO member states (Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) and BRICS (five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South African Republic) held a meeting July 9.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the issues of cooperation within SCO and BRICS, development of the world economy, in particular, ensuring economic growth, supporting financial stability and structural transformations.

Taking into account the global nature of the current threats and challenges, the summit participants expressed full support to the international measures and activities for overcoming them.

Uzbek president said in his speech that this unique meeting with participation of the heads of SCO and BRICS member states is of great importance for both international structures with great social and economic potential.

Karimov said that today, all states are concerned about the growing threat of the international terrorism and extremism. He drew the attention of the participants to the necessity of strengthening the trust among states in combating these threats.

The president expressed confidence that the meeting between SCO and BRICS will allow to improve the welfare of the peoples of the member states.

Furthermore, Islam Karimov plans to hold several bilateral meetings within SCO summit, according to Uzbek presidency.
