Uzbekistan plans to attract international sports goods manufacturers to the new “Sport” free economic zone (FEZ) in Tashkent province in line with the Uzbek president’s order.
The “Sport” FEZ will be created until June 30, 2018 and such renowned brands as Adidas, Reebok, Nike, Li Ning, Eleiko, Janssen-Fritsen, Gymnova etc. are to be invited to the FEZ, the Uzbek news agency Sputnik reported.
According to the information, the FEZ will include a full-featured industrial cluster. Tens of enterprises specializing on sports apparel, inventory and equipment production will locate their production lines there.
The news agency added that talks with the foreign partners will be held by the Uzbek State Investment Committee, the Foreign Ministry, the Foreign Trade Ministry, the National Project Management Agency and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports.
The sports goods production in Uzbekistan is still at a very early development stage, the news agency noted. Most of the market is filled with cheap Chinese production.
