Uzbekistan joins single postal territory of Universal Postal Union

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On ratification of the ninth additional protocol to the charter of the Universal Postal Union (UPU)”, Uzbek media reported on April 4.

The law was signed by the legislative chamber of the Uzbek parliament and the Uzbek Senate in March 2018. The protocol was adopted by the 26th UPU Congress and signed in Istanbul on October 6, 2016.

“To ratify the ninth additional protocol to the charter of the Universal Postal Union,” the text of the law read.

The press service of the Uzbek Senate noted that the protocol provides for a single postal territory for mutual exchange of postal items, specifies the definition of a postal dispatch for countries adopting the UPU regulations.

Ratification of the protocol will promote development of international cooperation in postal communication sphere.
