Uzbekistan eyes increasing export volume in 2021

The government of Uzbekistan has set the task to increase the volume of exports of goods and services by at least 20 percent next year, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, Uzbekistan plans to intensify work on joining the World Trade Organization and large-scale cooperation with the European Union in 2021.

“A separate program should be developed for the effective use of the preferences of the "GSP+" system in our country,” the president noted.

It was noted that since Uzbekistan received the status of an observer in the Eurasian Economic Union, it is necessary to accelerate work to bring national technical regulation standards in line with their requirements for a full-scale presence in the markets of the member states of this organization.

In addition, it is planned to allocate $100 million from the Export Support Fund to Enterprises for the purchase of raw materials and the production of export-oriented products. Exporters will be reimbursed 50 percent of the costs of opening trading houses and stores, advertising costs abroad.

Earlier it was reported that the number of enterprises with state participation will be reduced by at least three times. In particular, next year the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine, Uzbekneftegaz, Uzbekhydrogeologia, Uzavtosanoat companies will have the opportunity to enter the international financial market and raise funds without government guarantees.
