Saudi Sunbulah Technologies Est company plans to import saffron from Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Saudi Arabia.
A meeting was held between the ambassador of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Maksudov and the head of Sunbulah Technologies Est Ubaid Ullah Siddiqui, during which the ambassador handed over to the head of the company samples of saffron grown in Uzbekistan by BMB Trade Group.
It is noted that the product has been inspected and certified by the Saudi Arabian Food and Drug Administration (SFDA).
The head of the Sunbulah Technologies Est emphasized that saffron will be the beginning of cooperation with Uzbekistan, adding that the company intends to import a wide range of products in the future.
Currently, Saudi Arabia imports saffron from countries such as Morocco, Spain, India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“We hope that the saffron grown in Uzbekistan will be competitive in quality and will find its place in the Saudi Arabian market,” Siddiqui said.
He also said that the company would like to study the possibility of exporting products from Uzbekistan from natural honey and mountain herbs. Siddiqui noted that the demand for organic medicinal products is high in Saudi Arabia.
The meeting also provided information on the ongoing efforts to create a transport corridor connecting Central and South Asia.
“The creation of such a convenient transport corridor in the shortest possible time will have a positive effect on trade and economic relations between the countries of the region,” the head of the Sunbulah Technologies Est said.
In this regard, Siddiqui expressed hope that the construction of a new transport corridor will significantly increase the trade turnover between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
