Uzbekistan reveals volume of industrial products produced at FEZ in 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17

Industrial products worth 27.8 trillion soums ($2.6 billion) were produced in 2020 in 18 free economic zones (FEZ), 77 directorates of small industrial zones (SIZ), 10 technology parks and 420 clusters of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in particular, industrial products worth 12.3 trillion soums ($1.2 billion) were produced at FEZ, 2.7 trillion soums ($256 million) - at SIZ, 252 billion soums ($23.9 million) – at technology parks and 12.6 trillion soums ($1.2 billion) – at clusters.

It is reported that the volume of products (goods and services) exported from Uzbekistan totaled 5995.9 billion soums. It is noted that goods and services worth 1.8 trillion soums ($170 million) were exported from FEZ, 717.5 billion soums ($68 million) - from SIZ, 46.6 billion soums ($4.4 million) - from technology parks and 3.4 trillion soums ($322 million) from clusters.

Earlier it was reported that the head of state signed a decree on measures for the further development of the engineering and communication infrastructure of special economic and small industrial zones. According to the document, this year 1.6 trillion soums ($151.7 million) will be allocated to improve the infrastructure of the FEZ and SIZ.

In particular, 584 billion soums ($55.4 million) will be allocated for the construction of electricity, gas and water supply, sewerage, and roads in 17 FEZ, another 395 billion soums ($37.5 million) will be allocated for the development of 145 SIZ.

The provision of infrastructure for large investment projects provides for the allocation of 232 billion soums ($22 million). Some 264 billion soums ($25 million) will be allocated for the accelerated development of industry and business in 33 underdeveloped regions.
