Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover from January through April 2021 decreased by $378.8 million (a decrease of 3.5 percent) compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the committee’s reports, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan for the reporting period reached $10.3 billion.
In particular, exports amounted to $3.5 billion (a 19.1 percent decrease compared to 4M2020), and imports - $6.8 billion (an increase of 7 percent). As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to a passive balance in the amount of $3.3 billion.
Among the 20 large partner countries in foreign economic activity, there is also an active foreign trade balance with six countries, in particular with such countries as Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Canada and Iran. A passive balance of foreign trade turnover remains with the rest of the 14 countries.
Today Uzbekistan carries out trade relations with 156 countries of the world. The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with China (20.5 percent), Russia (17.8 percent), Kazakhstan (11.8 percent), Turkey (9.3 percent), South Korea (4.8 percent), Kyrgyzstan (2.4 percent) and Afghanistan (2.3 percent).
In the structure of Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover, a significant share during the reporting period was noted in Tashkent, which amounted to 41.8 percent, or $4.3 billion, and the smallest share was recorded at the level of 1.2 percent, or $128.7 million in the Kashkadarya region.
