Funds for implementation of agricultural projects in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region revealed

It is planned to implement investment projects worth 3.1 trillion soums ($294 million) in the agriculture Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

According to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan, Surkhandarya has decided on priority tasks for the integrated development of the region and improving the well-being of the population.

Thus, in order to stimulate the development of the Bandikhan, Kyzyryk, Muzbat and Sherabad districts of the region, the president of Uzbekistan proposed to exempt newly created enterprises from taxes on land, property, from the turnover of small enterprises and a fixed income tax from individual entrepreneurs until January 1, 2024.

It was also noted that 1,177 investment projects worth 16.8 trillion soums ($1.6 billion) will be implemented in the Surkhandarya region in 2021-2022. As a result, it is planned to create 25,000 new jobs.

“It is necessary to accelerate the development of such driver industries like the building materials industry, light, leather, food, electrical, local industries and increase the number of new projects in the region,” the president said.

Also, proposals were made to compensate part of the transportation costs and interest on loans when exporting building materials, providing benefits to local industrial enterprises that produce import-substituting goods for the home, when importing raw materials and semi-finished products.

In agriculture, it is planned to implement investment projects for 3.1 trillion soums ($294 million). In particular, 950 billion soums ($90 million) will be allocated to create greenhouses with an area of ​​1,000 hectares. Olive plantations will be organized in Altynsai, Uzun, Bandikhansky, Denau, Jarkurgan, Muzrabat, Termez and Saryasi districts, and pomegranate orchards in Sherabad, Muzrabat and Kyzyryk.

In addition, the task has been set to create, using the example of Surkhandarya, an integral system for the effective use of household land, which will link owners, procurement enterprises, processors and exporters.

Moreover, it was instructed to provide employment for 50,000 people this year through public works, the creation of cooperatives and household plots. It has been determined that 32 billion soums ($3 million) will be allocated for these purposes from the Employment Promotion Fund and the Public Works Fund.
