Olive plantations to be set up in several districts of Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region

Nine of the 12 districts of the Surkhandarya region that are planned to be converted into agricultural areas will specialize in growing olives, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, 1,177 investment projects worth 16.8 trillion soums ($1.6 billion) will be implemented in the Surkhandarya region in 2021-2022. As a result, it is planned to create 25,000 new jobs.

In particular, it is planned to implement investment projects for $3.1 trillion in agriculture of the Surkhandarya region. In particular, 950 billion soums ($90 million) will be allocated to create greenhouses with an area of ​​1,000 hectares.

It is reported that olive plantations will be organized in Altynsai, Uzun, Bandikhansky, Denau, Jarkurgan, Muzrabat, Termez and Saryasi districts.

In addition, within the framework of the investment projects pomegranate orchards will be grown in Sherabad, Muzrabat and Kyzyryk districts.

Earlier it was reported that one of the Chinese Tianjin Kaiteng Investment Group Co. Ltd announced that it intends to invest in shrimp and Peking duck breeding in Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan.
