Uzbekistan’s 1H2021 crop production down

The volume of crop production amounted in Uzbekistan from January through June 2021 amounted to 45.8 trillion soums, or 98.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, the share of crop production in the total volume of agricultural production in Uzbekistan during the reporting period amounted to 40.7 percent.

It is noted that the main factor behind the lag in crop output is fruit production. The committee reports that in 1H2021, all categories of farms produced 938,600 tons of fruits and berries, which is eight percent less compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, all categories of farms in 6M2021 produced 3.2 million tons of vegetables (an increase of 4.4 percent compared to 6M2020). It is noted that 85.3 percent of the total volume of their production falls on the share of dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms.

Also, in 1H2021, all categories of farms produced 1.5 million tons of potatoes (an increase of 3.5 percent compared to 1H2020). Some 92 percent was produced in dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms.

In addition, during this period, Uzbekistan produced 211,900 tons of melons, which is 3.3 percent more compared to the same period last year.

Moreover, 45,497 tons of grapes were produced in Uzbekistan in 1H2021 (an increase of 5.1 percent compared to 1H2020). It is noted that 30 percent of the grapes produced account for the Surkhandarya region.
