Cotton harvest in Uzbekistan increases sharply

The volume of the raw cotton harvested in Uzbekistan increased by 422,000 tons in 2021 compared to 2020, reaching more than 3.4 million tons, Trend reports citing the press services of the president of Uzbekistan.

The yield increased by an average of 6.3 centners per hectare.

The volume of annual exports of cotton increased 3 times in 2021 compared to the previous years and amounted to about $3 billion.

The organization of agricultural clusters in the country helped to increase the rate of fiber processing by 2.5 times. There are 651 agricultural clusters operating in Uzbekistan now, they account for 100 percent of the harvested cotton and grain, and more than 40 percent of fruits and vegetables.

In total, more than 20 million tons of fruits and vegetables have been harvested in the country this year, about 1.5 million tons of fruits and vegetables were exported to 65 countries of the world.
