External debt of Uzbekistan increases

The external debt of Uzbekistan amounted to $37.6 billion from January through September 2021, which is an increase of 11 percent or $3.7 billion compared to the beginning of the year ($33.8 billion), Trend reports citing the press-service of Uzbek Central Bank.

In particular, the state external debt amounted to $22.9 billion, which is an increase of 7 percent or 1.5 billion compared to the beginning of 2021.

Non-state external debt increased by 18 percent or $2.2 billion, reaching $14.7 billion in 9 months of 2021.

Foreign currency assets of the country amounted to $68.3 billion, and the volume of foreign liabilities amounted to $51.4 billion from January through September 2021.

During this period, Uzbekistan’s net investment position amounted to $16.9 billion, which is a decrease of 17 percent or $3.4 billion compared to the beginning of the year.
