Uzbek Ministry announces tender for construction of new solar power plant

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has announced a tender for the construction of the solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of up to 300 MW, Trend reports citing the press service of the ministry.

The winner of the tender is expected to design, finance, operate and maintain a solar power plant in the country's Guzar district of the Kashkadarya region.

As part of the project, a power line to the nearby Guzar substation with a capacity of 500 kV will be built.

This project will be the second in the framework of the State Program for the construction of solar photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 1 GW, which is being implemented by the government of Uzbekistan with the support of the Asian Development Bank.

The program is one of the key components of the governmental strategy for the development of the use of renewable energy sources and the production of up to 7 GW of solar energy in the country by 2030 to meet the growing demand for electricity.
