BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.14

By Natavan Rzayeva - Trend:

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan plans to keep the annual inflation rate at the level of 8-9 percent in 2022, the bank's press service told Trend.

According to the basic scenario of the country's macroeconomic development, the Central Bank envisages maintaining moderately tight monetary conditions this year.

The press service named a number of measures that will help maintain a stable level of inflation in the country.

“According to preliminary calculations, the annual inflation forecast for 2021 is expected to be at the level of 8-9 percent. At the same time, moderately tight monetary conditions will remain in the economy until the end of 2022, an increase in the credit balance in proportion to nominal GDP growth, as well as improved competition conditions and the government’s efforts to reduce non-monetary inflation factors will help to keep the annual inflation rate at the forecasted level,” the press service said.

In addition, the press service reported that the country will take measures to reduce the overall fiscal deficit to 3 percent of GDP.
