Uzbekistan shares data on interest expenses of banking sector for 2M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Interest income of the banking sector of Uzbekistan increased by 39.1 percent from January through February, 2022, compared to same period of last year (6.9 trillion soums, or $603.8 million), reaching 9.6 trillion soums ($840 million), Trend reports via the Uzbek Central Bank.

During this period, the interest expenses of Uzbek banks increased by 28.9 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (4.3 trillion soums, or $383.4 million), reaching 5.6 trillion soums ($494.4 million).

From January through February 2022, the interest margin amounted to 3.9 trillion soums ($345.6 million), which is an increase of 56.8 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (2.5 trillion soums, or $220.4 million).

At the same time, non-interest income reached 2.7 trillion soums ($235.7 million), which is an increase of 37.3 percent, compared to the specified period last year (1.9 billion soums, or $171.5 million).
