BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 10. The Uzbek "Fergana Oil Refinery" LLC intends to start processing 2 million tons of oil per year in the near future, Deputy Director for Modernization and Prospective Development at the Fergana Oil Refinery Abdusalom Abdumanoniy told Trend.

"Today, the plant already processes one million tons of oil per year. More than 50 types of petrochemicals, including gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene, base oils, are produced here," Abdumanoniy said.

The refinery’s modernization project was launched in 2020, he noted.

According to the deputy director, the French Axes company prepared a feasibility study for the project. In June 2022, the active phase of modernization began.

"The project is scheduled to be completed in 2024. To date, more than $162 million of investments have been disbursed. The total cost of the project is $410 million," Abdumanoniy noted.

He also noted that in mid-2023, it’s planned to complete the construction of a steam boiler house on the territory of the refinery.

"Work is underway to upgrade the oil tank park. We have more than 400 oil tanks and plan to reduce their number to 112," the deputy director said.

The total area of ​​the refinery is 354 hectares. At the moment, 4,500 workers work here, he added.
