BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 20. Uzbekistan's Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AMMC) will increase the volume of ore processing up to 100 million tons, Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.

AMMC is implementing an investment project to develop the Yoshlik deposit. The cost of the project is $5.12 billion. The first phase of the development of the Yoshlik copper deposit will be completed in 2023.

A $2 billion copper processing plant will be built as part of the project. In the first stage, this plant will process 60 million tons of ore per year. Due to this, the capacity of the Almalyk plant for processing ore will increase from the current 40 million to 100 million tons.

In the second stage, the processing capacity will increase to 160 million tons. As a result of the implementation of these two stages, by 2028 the enterprise will have an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of copper, 50 tons of gold and 270 tons of silver.
