BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. Uzbekistan looks to attract Singapore to the construction of the new airport in Tashkent, Trend reports via the press service of Uzbekistan Airports JSC.

The matter was discussed between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment and Trade Laziz Kudratov, and representatives of Uzbekistan Airports JSC and Changi Airports International, on the eve of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev state visit to Singapore.

During the meeting, the sides talked about the prospects of implementing Singapore's experience in the construction of the new airport in Tashkent.

Following the negotiations, the parties signed a strategic partnership agreement.

According to the deal, Changi International Airports would join the construction project as a private partner. The total amount of the project amounted to approximately $1 billion.

Changi Airport is an international airport, one of the aviation hubs in Asia, and the only airport in Singapore. Since its opening in 1981, the airport has become an example in the aviation industry, receiving more than 280 awards over a twenty-year period from 1987 to 2007.

In 2019, 68.3 million passengers were registered at Singapore’s Changi Airport, which made it the 7th busiest airport in the world by the number of international passengers.
