BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. Uzbekistan will construct new substations with a total capacity of 664 MVA in the Yunusabad, Shaykhontohur, Mirzo Ulugbek, Yashnobod, and Yangikhayat districts of Tashkent city, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, the 5 new substations will be built within the framework of Uzbekistan’s President "On measures to provide consumers of Tashkent with energy resources" Resolution.

Ministry’s statement says that the construction will be carried out on the basis of a project proposed by the Ministry of Energy, Administration of Tashkent city, Navoi Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combinat, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, Uzavtosanoat JSC, and Uzmetkombinat JSC.

In the mentioned districts of Tashkent city, 7.5 km of power transmission lines with a capacity of 35 kV, and 41.7 km of power transmission lines with a capacity of 110 kV will be replaced by modern cable and wire products.

Furthermore, a total of 3.5 trillion soums ($306.8 million) will be allocated for the implementation of this project.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan generated more than 13.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through February 2023, increasing by 5 million kilowatt-hours, or 4 percent year-on-year.

During the reporting period, some 11.3 billion kWh of electricity was supplied to the population, which is an increase of 1.3 billion kWh or 13.4 percent, compared to the same period last year.
