BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. Uzbekistan imported from Kazakhstan 2.9 million tons of wheat and meslin in 2022, increasing by 8.3 percent, compared to 2021, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
During the reporting period, Uzbekistan’s grain and meslin imports from Kazakhstan amounted to $824.8 million – an increase of 32 percent, compared to 2021.
In 2022, Kazakhstan exported some 6.34 million tons of grain and meslin, mainly to the CIS countries. The total value of Kazakh grain and meslin exports increased by more than a third, reaching $1.92 billion.
The main importers of the Kazakh grain and meslin, besides Uzbekistan, were Tajikistan — 986,700 tons, followed by Afghanistan – 686,700 tons, Iran – 575,500 tons, etc.
In 2022, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $4.6 billion – 9.9 percent of the total foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan during the reporting period.
During this period, Kazakhstan’s imports from Uzbekistan made up $1.3 billion, increasing by 17.08 percent over 2021 ($1.1 billion), while exports amounted to $3.2 billion. This figure increased by 18.1 percent, compared to the figure for 2021 ($2.7 billion).
