BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Uzbekistan exported over 1,400 tons of peanuts worth 1.9 million from January through February 2023, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The statistics note that the export volume decreased by 3 times, compared to the figure for 2M2022 (4,200 tons worth $4.8 million).

Uzbekistan in the reporting period overall exported 135,600 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $116.4 million –a decrease of 1.2 times or 28,500 tons year-on-year.

Besides peanuts, the trade partners of Uzbekistan imported mug beans (17,600 tons), dried grapes (15,500 tons), cabbages (15,300 tons), grapes (11,100 tons), tomatoes (7,600 tons), pomegranates (6,200 tons), prunes (4,400 tons), chili peppers (3,600 tons), etc.

Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan were the main importers of fruit and vegetables from Uzbekistan in the reporting period.

Uzbekistan’s volume of fruit and vegetable exports reached 1.7 million tons in 2022, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

In the meantime, during the first two months of 2023, Uzbekistan's overall trade turnover amounted to $8.9 billion – an increase of 2 percent or $176.4 million, compared to the same period last year ($8.7 billion). Export from Uzbekistan in the reporting period amounted to about $3.1 billion, while imports to Uzbekistan - were $5.7 billion.
