BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Over 1.47 million tons of coal were mined in Uzbekistan from January through April this year, Trend reports.
The volume of coal production in the country at the specified time is 3.9 percent less than in the same period last year (1.59 million tons), the latest statistical data says.
Furthermore, 5.3 million tons of coal were mined in Uzbekistan last year, which is 5.9 percent more than in 2021 (5.05 million tons).
Meanwhile, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in early May noted that at the moment the demand for coal will increase by 1.5 times and set the task to increase production by 22.6 percent - up to 6.5 million tons.
