BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Another chemical cluster will be established in Uzbekistan's Fergana region, Trend reports.
"We recognize significant potential for the growth of the petrochemical industry and have outlined our focus on producing high value-added products. To this end, we have made investments in gas monetization by establishing gas chemical complexes across the country," Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Uzbek Energy Minister, said.
Regarding future plans, the minister noted that further processing of gas to generate value-added products, including novel polymers, mineral fertilizers, and synthetic fibers for the textile industry will be of main focus.
"The president has placed particular emphasis on the development of petrochemical clusters and the overall advancement of the petrochemical industry. As a result, we have already established specialized chemical clusters in Navoi and Ustyurt, with plans underway for another cluster in Fergana. Additionally, in collaboration with the Republic of Tatarstan, we have established a Technopark in Chirchik to drive innovation in this sector," Mirzamakhmudov added.
Meanwhile, the value of Uzbekistan's industrial production from January through April 2023 increased by 16.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2022 (154.3 trillion soums, or $13.4 billion), to 179 trillion soums ($15.6 billion).
