BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. CHN Energy, China's state-owned mining and energy company, plans to launch solar PV plants of 400 MW capacity in Uzbekistan this year, Trend reports.
The issue was discussed during the meeting between Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and Chairman of the Board of CHN Energy Song Hailiang, June 13.
During the meeting, they discussed the current status of joint projects and prospects for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The progress of projects related to the construction of photovoltaic power plants in the Kashkadarya and Bukhara regions, with a total capacity of 1,000 MW, and a cement plant in the Samarkand region with a capacity of 3 million tons, was thoroughly reviewed during the meeting.
Emphasizing the importance of the prompt commissioning of these facilities, the parties agreed to make comprehensive efforts to launch the photovoltaic power plants and the cement plant this year, and the remaining 600 MW by the end of 2024.
The sides exchanged views on the prospects for implementing new projects in the field of renewable energy sources, as well as the establishment of new production capacities and increasing the volume of chemical production.
The Chinese side shared their plans for further modernization of energy systems in the regions and the training of specialists in the field of green energy. They expressed readiness to provide consultation and technical support within the framework of applying innovative developments in infrastructure development.
Both sides expressed mutual commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation. It was agreed to establish a joint working group and develop a program for the implementation of joint projects, which would include specific mechanisms, performers, and timelines for implementing the agreements.
