Kyrgyzstan becomes main destination for Uzbek tourists

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. A total of 650,700 citizens of Uzbekistan visited Kyrgyzstan from January through May 2023, making Kyrgyzstan the main destination for Uzbek tourists, Trend reports.

According to the Statistical Agency of Uzbekistan, the top 10 countries frequented by Uzbek travelers from January through May 2023 included Tajikistan, with 422,000 visitors, followed by Kazakhstan with 255,000 tourists, Russia with 65,100, the UAE 59,000, Türkiye with 52,700, Saudi Arabia with 24,400, Kuwait with 20,700, Egypt with 9,100, and Azerbaijan with 8,300 visitors.

During the reporting period, a total of 1.6 million citizens of Uzbekistan visited foreign countries as tourists.

Earlier this year, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bakrom Ashrafkhanov said that the country plans to attract about 7 million foreign and 15 million domestic tourists by the end of 2023.

In 2022, the number of foreign visitors to Uzbekistan reached 5.2 million, which is an increase of 2.8 times compared to the figures recorded in 2021.

Last year, Uzbekistan attracted tourists from Russia (567,700 people), Türkiye (75,600 people), South Korea (19,900 people), Germany (17,700 people), India (16,800 people), Kazakhstan (15,511 people), Tajikistan (14,478 people), Kyrgyzstan (13, 569 people), USA (13,100 people), France (11,000 people), UK (10,500 people), Italy (8,800 people), Spain (6,300 people), and China (5,400 people) visited Uzbekistan in 2022.
