IMF moderates Uzbekistan's GDP rate forecast

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 10. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Uzbekistan’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth to stand at 5.5 percent in 2023, down by 0.2 percent compared to 5.7 percent in previous projections, Trend reports.

The IMF expects the GDP growth in Uzbekistan to remain at 5.5 percent in 2024, with no changes compared to the April report.

Meanwhile, the World Bank also expects Uzbekistan’s real GDP growth to amount to 5.5 percent as of 2023, up by 0.4 percent from June projections.

This figure is set to rise to 5.6 percent in 2024, which is 0.2 percent more than in the previous forecast, while in 2025 the real GDP is set to stand at 5.8 percent, which does not differ from June projections.

At the same time, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) forecasts a greater increase in Uzbekistan's GDP growth. As per EBRD’s experts, the country’s GDP growth will stand at 6.5 percent both in 2023 and 2024.

Thus, the forecast has been left unchanged compared to the previous outlook for May 2023.
