TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 16. Uzbek government will start imposing seasonal restrictions on the movement of trucks, road trains and trailers in high-temperature seasons in the country, starting from 2024, Trend reports.

Moreover, the additional traffic rules will be developed to regulate traffic on the roads and import trucks and trailers (except special vehicles and dump trucks) with a total permitted weight of more than 44 tons.

Under the new set of regulations, vehicles will undergo a significant transformation in management, which include the allocation of distinct identification numbers and technical passports for each vehicle.

Furthermore, a pivotal aspect of the new regulations involves the establishment of a unified electronic system for vehicle registration. This digital system will centralize and streamline the registration process, reducing administrative burdens and enhancing data accuracy.

In addition to these changes, there will be new rules governing the movement of these vehicles. These rules will specify how these vehicles are to be driven, ensuring safety and adherence to traffic regulations.

Another significant alteration is the introduction of a fee-based system for granting permission for these vehicles to travel on public roads.

It is also planned to introduce payments and collection procedures for violation of these rules and damage to roads.

Uzbekistan’s exports by road have witnessed a downward trend in 2023, compared to the rapid growth through 2022. This trend is largely determined by the Russian direction, which decreased by 39 percent year-on-year and 27 percent compared to the second quarter of 2023.

Overall, Uzbekistan is actively engaged in the enhancement and modernization of its transportation systems to elevate the quality and efficiency of cargo transportation.

Significant investments are directed towards the expansion and modernization of the road network, the improvement of rail transport conditions, the modernization of airports, and the development of seaports.
