TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 24. Uzbekistan and China discussed matters of further expansion of multifaceted practical cooperation, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, Trend reports.

This was discussed during visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China. He began the visit with a meeting with Chinese Premier of the State Council Li Qiang at the House of People's Assemblies.

Through political will and joint efforts of the leaders of the two countries, Uzbek-Chinese relations have reached an unprecedented level in all spheres and directions.

The sides discussed preparation of separate cooperation programs in infrastructure modernization, expansion of industrial cooperation, technology transfer in agriculture and development of green energy.

Prospects of deepening practical interaction with China's leading banking and financial institutions, as well as participation of Chinese companies in the privatization processes in Uzbekistan have also been considered.

The parties praised the results of the first Uzbek-Chinese regional forum and industrial exhibition held in Urumqi on January 22.

The sides noted the successful realization of the educational forum and Days of Uzbek Culture in China. The two sides spoke in favor of further expansion of air and tourism exchanges.

Trade turnover increased by 50 percent last year, reaching $14 billion. The potential for bringing this figure to $20 billion has been noted, including by increasing mutual supplies of high-quality agricultural and industrial goods. The total volume of Chinese investments in Uzbekistan's economy has exceeded $14 billion.

In conclusion, the president Mirziyoyev invited the Premier of the State Council of China to pay a visit to Uzbekistan.
