TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 13. Chinese Envision company installed 73 turbines with a total capacity of 474.5 MW, Trend reports.
According to Information Service of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, Saudi Arabian ACWA Power company is implementing projects on construction of 2 wind power plants with capacity of 500 MW each (total 1000 MW) in Peshku and Gijduvan districts of Uzbekistan's Bukhara region.
Within the framework of this project wind turbines of Chinese Envision company with capacity of 6.5 MW each are being installed. The height of each turbine tower is 100 meters and the length of each blade is 84 meters.
Furthermore, a total of 158 similar wind turbines will be installed as part of this project. The first 400 MW of capacity of these power plants will be put into operation by the end of 2024.
As a result of full commissioning of the wind farms, 3.6 billion kWh of electricity will be produced per year. This will save 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and prevent emissions of 1.5 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.
In addition, 260 kilometers of 500 kV overhead power lines and two 500 kV open switchgears will be constructed within the framework of the project.
These power transmission networks will improve the reliability of connections between the north-western (Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region) and south-western (Bukhara and Navoi regions) parts of Uzbekistan's energy system.
Meanwhile, PowerChina construction company and Saudi Arabian ACWA Power have started construction of a plant for the production of green hydrogen in Uzbekistan’s region of Chirchik.
