CNPC to modernize Uzbekistan’s Bukhara oil refinery

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 6. China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will modernize Uzbekistan’s Bukhara oil refinery, Uzbekneftegaz Deputy Chairman Odil Temirov told local media, Trend reports.

"Together with China's CNPC, we have started work on modernization of the Bukhara oil refinery," he said.

Temirov mentioned that the refinery's modernization will halt the production of RON-80 gasoline. He emphasized that the process would take over two years to complete.

The official pointed out that RON-80 gasoline, introduced in 2000, adheres to the Euro-2 standard. The President of Uzbekistan instructed to produce gasoline that complies with Euro-5 and Euro-6 requirements.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan and CNPC discussed the implementation of energy projects in the country during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to China.

The projects under discussion include the construction of underground gas storage facilities, the modernization of gas transportation systems, the adoption of modern drilling technologies, and the training of specialists in the oil and gas industry.
