TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 30. The volume of cargo transportation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to about 400,000 tons from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, the volume of cargo transportation between both countries is increasing every year.
"A total of 36,500 permit documents were exchanged with Turkmenistan in 2023, and 10,000 permit documents were exchanged in the previous period of 2024, which ensured the continuity of cargo transportation. Additional permit forms are exchanged by the Ministry of Transport at the request of the Turkmen side," the ministry said.
Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport negotiates with Turkmenistan to increase the volume of cargo transportation by increasing the quota of permit forms and additional exchange, ensuring equal conditions for national carriers in the process of international cargo transportation.
Meanwhile, the total volume of cargo transportation in Uzbekistan amounted to 14.7 million tons from January through March 2024.
Uzbekistan transported cargo by railroads in the amount of 11.3 million tons, by road - 3.3 million tons, by air - 18,490 tons during this period.
