TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 20. Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and China have signed an agreement on the development of green energy, Trend reports.
Yashil Energiya (Uzbekistan), Fabulous Sunview (Malaysia), and Huawei Tech. Investment Tashkent (China) signed the document within the framework of the 17th International Conference and Exhibition "Electricity generation through solar photovoltaic stations and 'smart' energy" in Shanghai (China).
The agreement envisages joint development of green energy in Uzbekistan and the construction of small solar photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of 50 MW on buildings and structures of social sphere facilities, government agencies, and other organizations.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of renewable energy sources to 40 percent by 2030.
This year, the country will connect the first 2.6 GW of 14 solar and wind power plants to the grid. As a result, the share of renewable energy in Uzbekistan's total electricity production will increase from 9 percent to 15 percent.
Uzbekistan, together with foreign partners, is building 32 green energy facilities with a total capacity of 18.3 GW at a cost of $19 billion.
