TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 20. Uzbekneftegaz (Uzbekistan’s oil and gas company) plans to generate 35.2 million kWh of electricity from available renewable energy sources by the end of 2024, Trend reports.
According to the company, within the framework of measures on energy saving, Uzbekneftegaz installed 26.7 MW of solar photovoltaic power plants, 89,200 liters of solar water heating devices, 108 units of frequency control devices, 12 sets of energy-saving pumps, 13,235 energy-saving lamps, 1,103 units of motion sensors, 4,696 square meters of corrugated panels, and 1,951 units of solar lighting panels.
In particular, up to 160,000 kWh of electricity is generated daily due to installed solar photovoltaic power plants, solar water heaters, and lighting fixtures with solar panels. As a result, the daily electricity consumption of Uzbekneftegaz has been reduced by 9–10 percent.
Moreover, a total of 78.7 million kWh of electricity will be saved due to the introduction of renewable energy sources and the continuous operation of energy-saving installations, as well as the control of the indicators of electricity generated from them by the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan produced 27.9 billion kWh of electricity from January through April 2024. The production volume has increased by 7.3 percent compared to the same period last year (26 billion kWh in January–April 2023).
At the same time, in April 2024, the country’s electricity production amounted to 7.9 billion kWh.
