TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 21. Uzbekistan produced 31.1 billion kWh of electricity from January through May 2024, Trend reports.

The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the production volume has decreased by 1.2 percent compared to the same period last year (31.5 billion kWh in January–May 2023).

At the same time, in May 2024, the country’s electricity production declined to 3.2 billion kWh, compared to 7.9 billion kWh in April 2024).

Meanwhile, Uzbekneftegaz (Uzbekistan’s oil and gas company) plans to generate 35.2 million kWh of electricity from available renewable energy sources by the end of 2024.

In particular, up to 160,000 kWh of electricity is generated daily due to installed solar photovoltaic power plants, solar water heaters, and lighting fixtures with solar panels. As a result, the daily electricity consumption of Uzbekneftegaz has been reduced by 9–10 percent.

Moreover, a total of 78.7 million kWh of electricity will be saved due to the introduction of renewable energy sources and the continuous operation of energy-saving installations, as well as the control of the indicators of electricity generated from them by the end of 2024.
