TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 18. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 project, Trend reports.
The news followed a meeting between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov, to discuss topical issues of Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides noted the implementation of strategic regional projects, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad. They also talked about new project proposals in the sphere of transport and energy infrastructure development.
Both officials emphasized that the signing of the Joint Statement on Further Deepening and Expansion of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership within the framework of this visit confirms the mutual desire to bring bilateral relations to a higher level.
The parties noted the need to increase the effectiveness of contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, foreign policy, and sectoral agencies to continue mutual support within the framework of international and regional platforms.
Furthermore, the officials decided to bring the volume of trade turnover up to $2 billion in the coming years.
During the current visit, cooperation projects will be launched in the fields of renewable energy, automobile manufacturing, and the textile industry.
The presidents stated the importance of further expansion of interregional cooperation and discussed issues related to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, water management, ecology, security, and other spheres.
The heads of state also exchanged views on regional agenda issues of mutual interest.
