Warlike Statements by Iranian President Cause Security Council’s Chairman Resignation – Iranian Political Scientist

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. D.Khatinoglu / Warlike statements by the Iranian President Ahmadinejad caused Ali Larijani's resignation, the chairman of the Security Council of Iran, Isa Saharkhiz, an Iranian political scientist, said to the Trend Agency.

The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accepted the resignation. Larijani left the position due to his private reasons, Gholomhossein Elham said, Iranian IRNA state agency quotes. Saeed Jamili will take the post of Larijani, the deputy Foreign Minister of Iran.

Saharkhiz said by telephone from Tehran, Larijani tried to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem through diplomatic ways and the warlike statements by Ahmadinejad against the West complicated the situation.

"Ahmadinejad did not permit the Iranian officials to express their attitude towards the nuclear program of the country and to discuss the issue with international organizations. Iranian former head of a nuclear organization, Hasan Rouhani's visit to Germany intensified contradictions between Ahmadinejad and Larijani," Saharkhiz said.

Rouhani met with Javier Solano to discuss the nuclear issues in September. Ahmadinejad said in his statement that some people kenned to discus the nuclear issues abroad without the country's permission. I warn them not to meddle in such issues, the IRNA news agency reported.

According to Saharkhiz, Ahmadinejad's statement caused Larijani's resignation. Larijani submitted a written statement to the President concerning his resignation.

There are serious differences in point of views between Ahmadinejad and Manouchehr Mottaki, the Foreign Minister.

According to Saharkhiz Larijani's resignation does not have any relation to the statement by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

During the summit of the Caspian Sea countries, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, made a new proposal to the Iranian religious leader, Ali Khamenei. The core of the proposal was not announced, the IRNA reported. Larijani said the proposal regarded Iran's nuclear program and would be considered by the official Tehran. However, the Iranian President denies Putin made such a proposal.
