New Iran has altered world political equations: Leader

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that the emergence of new Iran had altered world political equations, the local Press TV website reported Saturday.

"Iran's Islamic Revolution has been the source of great political changes... and the 1979 victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran has dramatically altered political equations in the world," Khamenei was quoted as saying, Xinhua reported.

"This revolution has transformed the nation of Iran into a nation of willpower, strength and dignity, a nation capable of influencing other societies," said Khamenei.

He drew upon the influences of Iran in the region and in the world's political scene and asked the world powers to acknowledge "a revolutionary Iran."

Iran began last Saturday ceremonies marking the 30th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution which resulted in the overthrow of the U.S.-backed regime of Shah.

Iran's Islamic officials have incessantly reiterated the country's progressive role in the diverse areas by linking it to the advantages taken from country's revolution.
