Iran’s annual foodstuff exports exceed $770m

An official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran stated in Tehran on Tuesday that the country exported over $770 million worth of food products in its last calendar year (ended March 20, 2009).

Mehrdad Jalalipour added, "The figure shows a six percent growth over the figure for the preceding year."

He noted that several strategies have been adopted which have led to a notable increase in the exports of food products, the Mehr News Agency reported.

Soft drinks, mineral water, sweets, dairy products, jam and jelly, fruit juice, and pasta were the main export-bound food products that have been exported to Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Canada, Venezuela, Japan, South Korea, and Turkey.
