The Iranian police conduct a large-scale combat against the spread of narcotics. Under the operations, the police arrested about 41,000 people starting from March 18, 2010, Drugs Combating Department Head General Hamidrza Huseynabad was quoted as saying by MEHR.
He added that the police arrested 700 drug addicts over the past two weeks.
Based on the UN data for 2010, Iran ranked first for the drugs use.
