Quake hits Iranian Fars Province

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale took place near the Iranian Akhl city in the Fars province at 11:29 today, the Iranian television official news website "iribnews" reported

No one died or injured as a result the quake.

Earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale took place in the Iranian province of Khorasan - Rezavi near Turbati-Haidari. More than 170 people were injured.

Earthquakes often take place in Iran. The most powerful earthquake occurred in December 2003 in the city of Bam, located in the south-east province of Kirman. The earthquake claimed the lives of 31,000 people. The ancient fortress, built of clay, was destroyed.
