Iranian Foreign Minster Manouchehr Mottaki has congratulated Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on the country's referendum results, Press TV reported.
In a telephone conversation on Monday, Mottaki congratulated the Turkish nation's vote of confidence to the Ankara government in the recent referendum on constitutional amendments.
Davutoglu, for his part, expressed gratitude for Iran's stance.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, both sides expressed hope for further the expansion of all-out ties and described First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi's upcoming trip to Turkey as another step towards bolstering Tehran-Ankara relations.
Turkish voters have firmly supported constitutional amendments proposed by the country's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who leads the ruling Justice and Development Party.
Changes to the make-up of the Constitutional Court and the judiciary are among the proposed reforms.
Erdogan says the changes to a charter drafted in the 1980s after a military coup are needed to strengthen democracy and bring his country closer to European norms.
The referendum result could also enhance Erdogan's chances of forming a single-party government for a third consecutive term after an election due in July next year.
