Defense Minister: Iran's defense capabilities serve regional security
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Sunday the country's defense capabilities belong to Islamic Ummah and serve sustainable security in the region, ISNA reported.
"Army and resistance are two strong arms to defend Lebanon's territorial integrity," he said in a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Tehran.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always declared that it stands with Lebanon's army and resistance and is ready to meet the neighboring country's defense needs," Vahidi noted.
Hariri on his part said, "the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken great measures for Lebanon in hard days."
He reiterated unity of Arab countries and Iran and said, "unity is the major factor which removes threats."
Hariri who arrived in Tehran on Saturday evening for a three-day official visit also took part in Iran's defense capabilities fair.
Lebanon's Prime Minister is accompanied by several ministers in his first official visit to Iran.
Hariri was welcomed to Tehran by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Lebanon some 40 days ago where he was warmely welcomed by Lebanese.
